Since its founding in fall 2023, the National Science and Technology Council’s Research Institute for Democracy, Society, and Emerging Technology (DSET) has actively engaged with international think tanks on semiconductors, AI, energy, and defense technology. To mark the opening of its new office, DSET will co-host a seminar with the NCCU’s Supply Chain Resilience Center focused on supply chain policies.
Given the current shifts in international politics and economics, global supply chains are experiencing intense restructuring and significant challenges. With the U.S. elections on the horizon, policies regarding semiconductor subsidies and sensitive technology protection have come into sharper focus.
To promote strategic dialogue and policy cooperation among countries, Taiwan’s Research Institute for Democracy, Society, and Emerging Technology (DSET) and National Chengchi University’s Supply Chain Resilience Center are hosting an international seminar on October 12. This event will bring together think tank researchers and Taiwanese tech industry leaders from Taiwan, the U.S., Japan, South Korea, and Europe to discuss how to foster cooperation and ensure the stability and sustainability of global supply chains in this evolving landscape.
The seminar will explore trends in global supply chain restructuring, the impact of national industry subsidies, and strategies to enhance economic security cooperation among nations, with the goal of developing actionable strategies and pathways for mutual benefit moving forward.
