The Research Institute for Democracy, Society, and Emerging Technology (DSET) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korean Security Agency of Trade and Industry (KOSTI), a think tank based in Seoul, South Korea.
The Korean Security Agency of Trade and Industry is South Korea’s key economic security think tank under the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy. It supports the Korean government’s trade policies and export controls related to national and economic security. This includes monitoring foreign trade security policies and sanctions trends globally, and assisting businesses in adhering to international trade standards to ensure the country’s trade and economic security.

The signing ceremony took place in DSET’s office in Taipei, Taiwan. The signing delegation from KOSTI was led by Dr. Jeong-Meen Suh, the president of KOSTI. Dr. Eun Ho Lee, the Representative of the Korean Mission in Taipei, provided a remark and witnessed the signing ceremony. According to the MoU, DSET and KOSTI will promote international academic cooperation by encouraging exchanges of research staff and young researchers, joint research activities and research engagements, exchange of academic publications and information sharing, joint promotion of multilateral networks of Asian studies, and more.
During the remark, Dr. Eun-Ho Lee agreed that, as the need to secure a stable supply chain is increasingly critical, the partnership comes at a very timely moment. He looks forward to future collaboration.

Dr. Wen-ling Tu, the President and the signing representative of DSET, delivered a warm welcome to the KOSTI delegation and expressed appreciation to KOSTI for further deepening the institutional collaboration with DSET through this memorandum of understanding. She mentioned that, as Taiwan and South Korea share similar legislative frameworks on economic and trade security and democratic values, it is both timely and significant to affirm our shared commitment to deepening academic and policy collaboration at this critical moment when the challenges confronting the region are rapidly intensifying.
President Jeong-Meen Suh of KOSTI also made his remark. He echoed the observation of an emerging demand in securing the supply chain, and is happy to see the settling of the foundation of a strong and sincere partnership.

In the future, DSET and KOSTI aim to expand collaboration in economic and trade security research areas. The institutes will work together to continue strengthening the partnership in advancing regional resilience and economic and trade security.
