Research Institute for Democracy, Society and Emerging Technology(DSET)signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Czech think tank Association for International Affairs (AMO) on March 16 at DSET’s Taipei office, marking a significant step toward strengthening bilateral cooperation in think tank research and policy engagement between Taiwan and the Czech Republic.
AMO is a Prague based non-partisan NGO specializing in international relations. Since its founding in 1997, AMO has maintained a sustained focus on European policy, international security, and diplomatic affairs, while increasingly dedicating resources to research on Taiwan and China-related issues. It is widely recognized as one of the most active think tanks in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) addressing China’s strategic influence and avenues for Taiwan-Czech cooperation.
AMO’s dedicated China Team focuses on analyzing China’s foreign policy, outbound investment, and its influence operations across Europe and the Czech Republic. The team leads several cross-national research initiatives, including MapInfluenCE, which maps Chinese and Russian influence networks across the CEE region, and CHOICE (China Observers in Central and Eastern Europe), a platform that aggregates regional expertise to analyze Chinese activities in CEE countries. CHOICE also regularly publishes commentary and analysis on cross-strait developments and Taiwan-EU trade policy.
The MOU was signed by Ivana Karásková, Head of AMO’s China Team, and DSET President Wen-Ling Tu. Both parties expressed their commitment to deepening the Taiwan-Czech think tank relationship through joint research, policy dialogue, and academic exchange.
During her visit to Taiwan, Ivana Karásková has also been invited to speak at this year’s Yushan Forum, where she delivered a keynote at a session dedicated to international think tanks, sharing her perspectives on Chinese influence in Central and Eastern Europe and the evolving landscape of Taiwan-Europe cooperation.
