DSET and the Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry (RIETI) of Japan have recently engaged in reciprocal visits aimed at strengthening the collaboration in supply chain resilience, opening new opportunities for Taiwan and Japan to address global supply chain challenges.
Following RIETI Chairman Kyoji Fukao’s delegation visit to DSET on December 3, 2024, DSET CEO Chih-Cheng Chang made a return visit to RIETI in Tokyo on January 24, 2025. Both parties held in-depth discussions on supply chain resilience and agreed to establish regular cooperation mechanisms to promote closer interaction and exchange between the think tanks of both countries.
RIETI, a key think tank under Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, has long been dedicated to research in supply chain security, international economic policy, and technological innovation. Its research findings provide crucial reference for Japanese government and business decision-making. RIETI possesses strong domestic research capabilities and extensive international cooperation experience, making it a vital force in promoting economic transformation and maintaining supply chain resilience.
Key participants from RIETI in these bilateral visits included: Chairman Kyoji Fukao, President Eiichi Tomiura, Director Shigetoshi Ikeyama, Senior Fellow Willem Thorbecke, Senior Fellow Yoichi Sekiguchi, Senior Fellow Masataka Saburi, and International Affairs Director Akiko Kumagai.
DSET CEO Chih-Cheng Chang stated, “These reciprocal visits not only deepen our partnership but also create new opportunities for Taiwan-Japan cooperation in supply chain resilience.” Experts from both sides shared their latest insights on supply chain resilience in the current global geopolitical environment and laid a solid foundation for future collaboration in policy research, technology applications, and supply chain security.
As Japan’s leading economic and industrial research institution, RIETI holds significant influence in both government and industry circles. RIETI not only provides forward-looking policy recommendations and in-depth research findings but also continuously tracks and analyzes global economic dynamics, serving as an important bridge connecting domestic and international policy and industry trends.
As representative think tanks of Taiwan and Japan respectively, both DSET and RIETI look forward to expanding the areas of cooperation, jointly addressing uncertainties in the global economic environment, and exploring strategically significant cooperation models on core issues related to supply chain resilience.
