Israel Knesset Delegation Visits DSET to Exchange Views on Strengthening Taiwan-Israel Innovation and Technology Cooperation

On April 22, Boaz Toporovsky, Chair of the Israel-Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Group, led a delegation of Israeli lawmakers to visit DSET. The delegation was accompanied by Ambassador Abby Ya-ping Lee, Taiwan’s Representative to Israel. Discussions focused on the potential for bilateral cooperation in science and technology between Taiwan and Israel.

Chairman Toporovsky noted that while both Taiwan and Israel are relatively small in size, they have each demonstrated remarkable innovation and manufacturing capabilities, making them highly complementary partners.

DSET CEO Jeremy Chih-Cheng Chang and Head of the Democratic Governance Research Program, Dr. Kai-shen Huang, welcomed the delegation and introduced DSET’s research initiatives in areas including semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and democratic resilience. In February this year, Maya Yaron, Representative of Israel in Taiwan, also visited DSET, marking active efforts on both sides to foster dialogue between Taiwanese and Israeli think tanks in the field of technology policy.

During the visit, Chairman Toporovsky emphasized that Israel is renowned globally as the “Startup Nation,” while Taiwan has emerged as the “Scale-up Nation,” showcasing industrial strengths in scaling innovation into manufacturing. He stressed that by combining these strengths, Taiwan and Israel can unlock vast collaborative potential. In light of the ongoing U.S.-China tariff confrontation, he noted that more Israeli companies are seeking to deepen commercial and manufacturing ties with Taiwan.

During this visit, Chairman Toporovsky was also awarded the Medal of Diplomacy by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to advancing Taiwan-Israel relations over the years.
