As global supply chains face unprecedented challenges, the Research Institute for Democracy, Society, and Emerging Technology (DSET) hosted the Supply Chain Resilience Forum in October 2024. The event brought together experts, scholars, and industry leaders from Taiwan, the United States, Japan, South Korea, and Europe to explore opportunities and challenges in supply chain restructuring, attracting over 300 participants.
The complete event video of the forum was recently released on the official DSET YouTube channel. Additionally, we have published a highlights video, inviting various sectors to revisit the experts’ strategic recommendations for Taiwan and the forum’s outcomes.
The forum featured distinguished international policy experts, including Joe Wang, former Senior Advisor at the U.S. National Security Commission and current Senior Advisor for Foreign Policy at the Special Competitive Studies Project (SCSP); Kazuto Suzuki, Professor at the University of Tokyo and leading expert on Japan’s economic security policy; Won-Ho Yeon, Director of the Center for Center for Economic and Technology Security Studies at the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA); and Mathieu Duchâtel, Resident Senior Fellow at the International Studies Institut Montaigne in France.
Taiwan’s industry leaders also shared their perspectives. Hsien-Mi Meng, General Manager of GIGABYTE Technology, highlighted how geopolitical pressures have prompted the company to shift parts of its production to the U.S., Europe, and Southeast Asia to enhance supply chain flexibility. Jonathan Chang, Associate Vice President at Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation, emphasized the company’s expansion into Singapore to meet customer demands for supply chain resilience while advancing smart manufacturing transformation to boost production efficiency.
The DSET highlight video is now available, and all stakeholders are encouraged to watch. Moving forward, DSET remains committed to deepening Taiwan’s integration into the global semiconductor supply chain and strengthening dialogue with the United States and its democratic allies on economic security.
