Dr. Dung-Sheng Chen has been dedicated to advancing deliberative democracy and actively participating in practical work within local civil society. He consistently pays attention to the development of Taiwan’s social organizational infrastructure. Currently, his research focuses on the historical development path of democracy in Taiwan and the key factors shaping its role. Additionally, he contributes to the promotion of the National Science and Technology Council’s Research Institute for Democracy, Society, and Emerging Technology (DSET), exploring the political-economic foundations of emerging technologies and their connections to democratic defense, national security, social equity, and justice, industrial autonomy, and technological sovereignty. Lastly, he advocates for the establishment of Taiwan’s social practices and a social innovation ecosystem, connecting resources from various channels, including economic, human, spatial, and technological, to form an interconnected and sustainable system that enhances the resilience of local Taiwanese society and the energy of public participation.
