Sheng-Chung Lin(Sam Lin)

Sheng-Chung Lin(Sam Lin) was born into a scholarly family in Hsinchu and graduated from the Department of Chemistry at Tamkang University. Early in his career, he worked in the water treatment industry and served as Deputy General Manager at BetzDearborn Taiwan, specializing in industrial water treatment and pollution control. After turning 40, he fully devoted himself to Taiwan’s environmental protection movement, participating in and leading major environmental issues including water quality and heavy metal pollution, forest conservation, opposition to inappropriate industrial development, and the preservation of wetlands and historical sites. He served as an advisor to the Legislative Yuan’s Sustainable Development Committee and as a member of the National Sustainable Development Committee under the Executive Yuan. 

From 2000, he lived in Canada for twenty years, actively participating in community development planning public meetings in Vancouver and frequently invited as a current affairs commentator on the TV program “Cross-Strait, Three Places, and Canada.” Throughout this period, he continued to care deeply about Taiwan’s public affairs, advocating for the strengthening of civil society and emphasizing the crucial role of grassroots power in driving environmental reform.
