Dr. Thung-Hong Lin is currently serving as the Stanford-Taiwan Social Science Visiting Scholar at Stanford University’s Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences (2023-2024) and a Fulbright Visiting Scholar (2023-2024). He is a research fellow at the Institute of Sociology, Academia Sinica, and a jointly professor at the Institute of Sociology and the Center for Contemporary China, National Tsing Hua University. Additionally, he holds adjunct professor positions at the International Degree Program in Climate Change and Sustainable Development at National Taiwan University and the International Graduate Program for Earth System Science at National Central University.
His research interests include Social Stratification, Sociology of Disaster, and Comparative Political Economy; Area: China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. He has also focused on global risk issues such as digital technology, climate change, and pandemics in recent years. He received the 2012 Golden Tripod Award (Taiwan National Book Award) for his work “Generation Breakdown,” co-authored with Hong Ching-Shu, Lee Chien-Hung, Chang Feng-Yi, and Wang Chao-Ching. Furthermore, he was honored with the 2015 Wu Ta-You Memorial Award (Young Scholar Award) from the Ministry of Science and Technology. He has edited works like “Birth from the Giant Quake: Risk Analysis and Institutional Resilience of the 921 Earthquake” (2022) with Liu Ji-Yu and Chen Liang-Chuan, and “Unfinished Miracles: Taiwan’s Economic and Social Transformation” (2017) with Lee Tsung-Jung.
